The Cottage is within the Katikati Bird Gardens,
a 10 acre park set directly on the edge of the
inner Tauranga harbour. With water-lily ponds,
mature trees from around the world, flower
gardens and natural wetlands the gardens are a
delight all year round. And with over 50
varieties of birds wandering free and in
aviaries scattered throughout the gardens,
staying in this special corner of New Zealand is
a truly unique experience.
For beach lovers, the 8km long golden sand Waihi
Beach and the famous Mount Manganui surf beach
and salt water hot pools are all a short drive
away.
For walkers, the Kaimai Forest Park is right on
the doorstep with dozens of bushwalks to choose
from and the stunning Karangahake George
combines beautiful walks with a chance to
explore Waihi's gold mining heritage.
Waimarino adventure park offers kayaking trips
including their unique twilight gloworm tour.
Dolphin watching trips depart daily from
Tauranga and for the more adventurous Blokarting,
Skydiving and flights in a classic open-cockpit
biplane are available nearby.
Tauranga is less than 30 minutes away with it's
cafes, restaurants and shops. For wine-lovers
