Mahia
Peninsula - is an hour south of Gisborne and two hours
north of Napier. It's a great place to spend a day or two or a
couple of weeks if you wish to see the real New Zealand. It
might be our "little piece of paradise" but we are
ready to share it with you. Mahia has the best golden sand

from there is always a sheltered corner.

Or
head further out to Opoutama Beach, a five
kilometer long crescent of sand.

-
If
your interests are not nautical then there are delightful bush
walks in the Native Bush reserves or visits to some of the many
private gardens open to the public.
-
A
5 minute drive will take you to a 9 hole golf course or a
further 20 km to the Morere Hot Springs and Scenic reserve.
-
The
Mahia area is rich in history - both Maori and early
European. There are many opportunities locally to
participate in the Maori culture.

Your
hosts can arrange a visit to deer or sheep farm - have you ever
seen sheep shearing or working sheep dogs?
-
If
you are looking for somewhere to escape the pressures of work
then Cappamore Lodge is your destination. Most
New Zealand families plan their vacations around the school
academic year which means the Peninsula is a very busy place
from late December to early February. The best times to visit,
if you want peace and tranquility and warm temperatures, are
from February to May and October to December. The
temperatures during these periods average
