Hodd Cottage is in an attractive rural and garden setting on a working 1100 acre sheep and beef farm, amidst typical Rangitikei hill country and with many areas of native bush.

Virginia and Neil live in the adjacent homestead which is close enough to walk for dinner (Virginia is a dietitian and capable cook, so can cater for your evey need) or a soak in the spa pool. However Hodd Cottage is also far enough away to allow you complete privacy and independence if you want.

Guests can observe or join in with the daily farm activities. There is a well marked walk over the farm with accompanying text, to enable guests to enjoy the unique scenery of a Rangitikei Hill country farm. Views to Mt Ruapehu, the Ruahine Ranges and the west coast are possible from vantage points on the way. Just a short walk from Hodd Cottage is a totally private stretch of Mangawharariki River, ideal for exploring, picnicking and safe swimming.

Fishing is a feature of the area, river trout just waiting for the patient and appreciative licensed angler.

Hodd Cottage is also in close proximity to the Ruahine Ranges and the many walks which take you through the varying vegetation of this Department of Conservation administered National Park.

Within a 30km radius of Hodd Cottage there is available tourism activities (rafting, bungy jumping, kayaking), private gardens for viewing, pioneer museums, award winning cafes and horse riding to name but a few.

Rooms & Facilities:

Hodd Cottage is a cosy little house, refurbished in modern colours and with carpet and polished wood floors. We describe it as a "home away from home" as you only need food and your clothes and we arrange the rest.
There are 3 bedrooms. Beds have quilts and electric blankets, all linen is supplied.
BR1 = 1 double/queen bed
BR2 = 2 singles
BR3 = 2 singles which can be  converted to a double.
A cot and high chair are available
A bed-settee is in the lounge

There are 2 bathroom areas and a separate toilet - shower and old fashioned bath.

The kitchen is fully equipped with standard oven, microwave, fridge/freezer and all crockery, cutlery and utensils. Double doors lead from the kitchen onto the sunny deck with outdoor furniture, gas BBQ and views of farmland and native bush.

Laundry has automatic washing machine.
Separate lounge with fire, TV, and comfy couches.
Secure vehicle garaging.
