Description:

Karaka is set in a very beautiful 5 acre property on the shore of the Waimea Estuary. Surrounded by vineyards and an organic orchard, there are spectacular views all around of water and mountains and rolling landscape. It is only a 5 minute drive to Mapua Village where there are shops, cafes and restaurants, 10 minutes to a sandy safe swimming beach at Rabbit Island, 40 minutes to Kaiteriteri,  45 to the Abel Tasman National Park, 20 minutes from Nelson airport. Many of Nelson's best known wineries are within 10 minutes drive. This is a  great place for bird watchers ...the Waimea Estuary is famous for its bird population, and you can lie in a hammock and watch wading birds paddle around the shore.

Rooms & Facilities:

Karaka has a main bedroom with a king size bed and  second bedroom with twin beds. It has an open plan living room /kitchen with a wood fire. There is an optional studio space attached by a walkway which can be used as an office, studio, or as a 3rd bedroom. There is a hot outdoor bathtub on a deck with fantastic views across the estuary to the mountains. There is a also a large covered verandah and a private garden on the estuary shore.
