Penguin Nest Cottage is located right on the
beach of Porpoise Bay/Curio Bay. It has 2
bedrooms and a sunroom. The front balcony is
superb and only 10 meters from the beach, with
beach views so good you won’t want to leave.
Watch the Hectors Dolphins swimming during the
summer months from your lounge. It is fully self
contained with everything you need for living.
Good shower, comfortable beds, great
kitchen/living room, pots, pan etc. It sleeps
maximum of 4-5 people. Small children welcome.
Cost $120 per night for 2 people. Extras $15 per
person per night. All prices include linen &
towels. The cottage has 1 queen size bed and 2
single beds, the sunroom also has a folding
couch bed. The world famous fossil forest at
Curio Bay is only 5 minutes walk away.
You can view NZ sea lions and Hectors dolphins
here regularly. The Catlins Surf school/hire
operates 7 days in front of the shop at Curio
Bay Campground where you can also buy your
supplies. There are penguins galore in this
area, the rare yellow eyed penguins and also the
little blue penguins. Due to this sorry no pets
are allowed.
This area of the Catlins has some of the most
amazing wildlife on earth and you can view it
all for free.
