  Wineries of the Marlborough Region

The predominant wines of this region are Sauvignon Blanc and Chardonnay, followed by other white varieties such as Reisling, Pinot Gris, & Gewurztraminer. In more recent times Pinot Noir has come to the fore, with extensive plantings of this grape. A large concentration of wineries can be found in the Renwick area, with others spread across the expanse of the Wairau River Valley, where the river itself runs out into Cloudy Bay. The provincial capital of Blenheim is the commercial and retail hub of the area.

 

There are nearly 50 wineries located in the Wairau River Valley Region, within approx 12 kms of Blenheim.
An excellent wine trail brochure "The Wines & Wineries of Marlborough- A souvenir wine map" has been produced and should be available from the Visitor Information Centre, 2 High Street ,Blenheim, for a nominal charge.
The brochure details the services available at each location, sales, tastings, food, gifts etc and in most cases hours open to visitors.
