Wineries of the Wairarapa Region

The Wairarapa Region is so close and yet so separated from Wellington, by the hills of the Rimutaka Range. A scenic one hour drive, (or by rail on the Tranz Metro), takes you to this area of historic villages and vineyards. Featherston, Greytown, Carteron and Masterton and of course Martinborough have an eclectic and historic mix of architecture, places to eat, shop and stay.

Martinborough, with its attactive town square, heralds itself as the hub of the wine growing area, and is home to the recently completed Wine Centre. Here you can sample the wines of the region, including the internationally acclaimed Martinborough Pinot Noir.

A growers market operates on Saturdays where the local growers and producers retail their goods direct to the public.
